Panjab famous temple festival

One of the famous temple festivals in Punjab is the "Hola Mohalla" festival, celebrated annually in the month of March in the town of Anandpur Sahib. Hola Mohalla holds great significance in Sikhism and is considered one of the most important festivals for the Sikh community.

During the festival, Sikhs from all over the world gather at Anandpur Sahib, which is the birthplace of the Khalsa, a religious order within Sikhism. The festival usually coincides with the Hindu festival of Holi and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor.

Hola Mohalla is a time for Sikhs to showcase their martial skills, as it was originally started by Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, as a demonstration of martial arts and military exercises by his followers. The festival includes various activities such as mock battles, wrestling, and displays of weaponry skills by the Nihang Sikhs, who are known for their distinctive attire and weapons.

Apart from the martial arts displays, Hola Mohalla also involves various religious processions and the recitation of religious hymns from the Sikh scriptures. Langars (community meals) are organized where thousands of people are served food irrespective of their caste, creed, or social status, symbolizing the principle of equality in Sikhism.

The festival of Hola Mohalla is a vibrant and colorful celebration that not only commemorates the valiant traditions of Sikh warriors but also promotes unity, spirituality, and community service among the Sikh community.
